What books should I read for extensive history about real merchant banks like Lazard, Allen Co, Rothschild?
I’d like to read as much history of true merchant banks as possible. There seems to be almost no good material on them (or the concept)

Hi Patrick, I would recommend Niall Ferguson’s 2-part The House of Rothschild & William Cohan’s The Last Tycoons (history of Lazard Frères); High Financier (about life of Sigmund Warburg) also by Niall Ferguson is worth reading too
