From best-selling author and podcaster Case Kenny…
Have you ever been called “too much” or told to “be realistic?” Do you exude a passion for life that makes you feel misunderstood, weird, or out of place?
That’s Bold of You is a call to unlearn the labels society has put on you - difficult, sensitive, intimidating, crazy, too loud, too quiet, too independent, etc. - and embrace being your own version of “too much.” That’s the part of you that speaks loud and clear to your uniqueness and your willingness to express who you are. It’s the source of your self esteem, your individuality, your standards, and what brings you joy… and it’s time to reclaim its power. It’s time to say goodbye to “sorry” and pressure to conform, and, instead, emphatically embrace what makes you different and bold.
It’s time to let go of who you’re
… the labels that don’t define you … your past and the weight it carries … the timelines given to you … expectations of who you’re supposed to be … pressure to be “normal”
… so you can embrace who you really are.
That’s Bold of You presents a mix of Case Kenny’s signature mindfulness alongside science-backed research to help you let go of self-judgment and harness your boldest energy in all facets of life. Kenny is best known for his podcast New Mindset, Who Dis where he approaches life and love through the lens of simple, no BS mindfulness. He draws from his life experiences and what he calls “logical mindfulness” where he encourages listeners/readers to find proof of their “why” from life experiences. His podcast is a 5-year running top 25 podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify and his quotes/affirmations gained viral popularity driven by support from celebrity voices like Hailey Bieber, Lucy Hale, and Viola Davis and media outlets The Today Show and Good Morning America.
I was scrolling on IG one day and kept seeing quotes from this book pop up on my discover page. The more they showed up, the more I kept resonating with them. So I hit the bullet and purchased “That’s Bold of You”. Truly one of the best decisions I could have ever made as a reader.
I could not put the book down. I had my pretty pink hi-liter to go because I was ready. More so, this book threw me a whole new perspective on life and my mindset. As someone who suffers from BPD(bi-polar), manically moved across the country in the beginning of the year and then to move back.
This book helped pull me out of a hole I never thought I’d mentally get out of.
If you’re ready to change your mindset, your life, your outlook. Read this book. WARNING- it’s a page turner and something you’re going to want to pause everything for so you can read it in one sitting.
I bought the kindle version of this book and started reading but I had to return it immediately to get my money back. The content might be good for social media but should not be b a book. It is not worth the money
This was the perfect book to start my new year with! I never say this because I have a very long to-be-read pile, but I know I will be reading this book again.
10/10! Love this book. I’ve been listening to case Kenny’s podcasts for over a year now and he announced how this book was 40% off on Amazon so u had to get it. Here are some takeaways: • your mindset is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make in life. Whether you believe the world conspires to be for you or against you is a decision that will guide your life’s course and daily interactions. • instead of manifesting through adjectives, we should be manifesting through VERBS and action • comparison is the thief of joy. Studies show 10% of the brain is spent comparing itself to other people. That means 10% of our discontent is from comparison, often from perception or assumption of other people’s lives on the internet. Everyone is going through something Really enjoyed this book and there was so much more in it but def recommend. ⭐️
While this book may not be for absolutely everyone, I freaking loved it. It was EXACTLY what I needed. I often feel like the weirdo in the group and this felt like having the most optimistic, hype-man bestie cheering me on page after page. I felt GOOD while reading this… it does help me to look at some things differently and now I’m really looking forward to reading his other stuff.
It’s honestly hard to comprehend how much insight and wisdom pours out of a guy who is so young… he’s definitely an old soul and I’d say he’s definitely found his calling. ❤️
I thought this would be the perfect sort of book to start off the new year.
It’s been a while since I read anything non fiction, and my sociology loving heart was so excited.
I’ve followed this author on Instagram for a while and love the quotes he shares, so I was intrigued to read this.
Whilst it provided some nice pieces of advice, and very interesting anecdotes and studies, overall I don’t feel like I learnt anything new or groundbreaking from this book. It felt repetitive at times so I felt myself skim reading some sections.
Overall glad I read this and was a nice start to the year, but I was expecting better.
2.5 ⭐️ Honestly I found this book really repetitive and boring for the first two thirds - causing it to feel like it dragged on. The last third was more insightful & had some good perspectives.
Wow, wow, wow. This book! It took me a bit of time to get into it but it was SO needed. Picked it up and restarted many times but so happy to finally see it through!
“You know what it’s like to make yourself small in the face of your big goals and aspirations. You know what it’s like to stick it out in relationships that no longer serve you. You know what it’s like to hide truths about yourself - your past, your hurt, or your pain. You know what it’s like to sugarcoat your words and what you really want to say…. That is your WHY. That is the source of your real, unforced, and authentic boldness.”
Been wanting to buy and read this for a while and so glad I did! This book is a godsend 🙏🏻 Though it was sometimes on the repetitive side and felt a bit like it was written by AI, I thoroughly enjoyed the book's overall encouraging and hopeful messaging and the ways in which the author challenges our thoughts and feelings about ourselves and our lives and how we can reframe and approach difficult situations, be it facing Imposter Syndrome or comparing ourselves to others or addressing people-pleasing tendencies. I'm also a big fan of the author's Instagram account as well which led me to this book 🙌🏻
I love his Instagram account and thought the book would hold the same sort of truth bombs, but for me it just didn’t hit the same way. I feel this book would be great for someone in their early to mid 20’s. It felt a bit basic.
Here is my reflection and review of the final pages of Case's masterpiece. The biggest lesson of all today was about loneliness. When we are lonely it means we are living our honest truths. It doesn’t mean we are unworthy. Experiences are merely experiences they don’t define our identity or self-worth. Experiences are always there to teach us something. In many cases, it means a redirection of ones course or path- living honestly, being bold— you will find those who connect to you on a soulful level. Being lonely although it sucks, not lowering your standards or becoming part of the mob is brave and beautiful. Keep being authentic. Today I feel this positive energy radiating within and out of me. I feel that I’m living in the present moment. I have forgiven, I hold no negative energy or grudges towards others who have harmed me. I have let go of all of it. As it flows down a river on a different journey, I have a new journey. One filled with positivity, new experiences, love for myself, others and the world. I feel at peace. I no longer have to feel those things I felt. Thank you Case for everything, this book has helped me in many ways. I am so grateful.
I think how you’ll feel about this book depends on what you’re currently going through in your life. I resonated HARD with a couple of the earlier chapters and really appreciated that. But then the rest was hard to get through.
Not a big fan of the writing style. It’s a lot of repeating the same exact thing over and over again with slightly different words. Can feel a little surface level if you are already very into self help stuff.
But overall I am still grateful for the lessons I did take away from it! They were very helpful at a particular time in my life.
It's a well intentioned book with some good advice here and there, but for me it lacks some real depth. It might be because I've read some deeper self-help books like The Power Of Now, but it's definitely also because the guy just keeps repeating himself. I think the book could be 1/4 of its total length if you just cut all the repetition out of it 😅 I will still give it 3 stars as it is well intentioned and it is always nice to be reminded of these things, but it is quite basic.
Difficult to keep reading. Something about the rhythm or repetition or topic. Couldn’t figure it out. I had a hard time concentrating on it, re-read many passages. Solid mindset-shift though. And very timely for me personally. Am happy I read it and would recommend it to others. With the caveat that it may not flow as smoothly as other prose.
I attended a hair appointment and my hairdresser accidentally purchased two! It was meant to be, because she gifted one to me and I am so thankful she did!!
This was a good read, as it helped me with a situation I was going through at the time. It’s definitely worth the read if you’re an overthinker!!
Pienso que es un libro poco convencional -en el buen sentido-, porque rompe esquemas concernientes a la auto ayuda y te lleva a un grado de introspeccion muy importante. Lo recomiendo muchisimo, lo agarré cada ratito que pude.
Good insight but repetitive. “Life has to be loved moving forward but can only be understood looking back.” “People feel happier when they have more variety in their daily routines, when they go to novel places and have a wider array of experiences.”
A really uplifting approach to self-motivation that diverted away from cringey norms and, for once, is NOT selfish advice. A very positive, encouraging and transformative read. Thank you, Case.
