Procrastination was robbing me of my future.
Here's my 6-step framework to beat it:
Here's my 6-step framework to beat it:
1. Identify the root cause.
Not everyone knows why they procrastinate.
Some of the most common reasons are:
- Stress
- Perfectionism
- Fear of failure
- Lack of motivation
- Feeling overwhelmed
You need to know WHY you're putting off tasks before developing a strategy.

2. Break down the task.
I often struggle to write Twitter threads.
Writing an entire thread might be challenging for you too—so start with a single tweet.
Or maybe working for an hour straight is too overwhelming—start with 15 minutes.
The smaller the task, the easier it is.

3. Set a deadline.
Parkinson’s Law—work expands to fill the time allotted.
If you want to beat procrastination, start setting shorter deadlines for each part of the broken-down task.
A goal without a timeline is just a dream.
Light a fire under your a** if you want results.

4. Reward yourself.
Gamify your productivity.
When you treat yourself after accomplishing a task, you become conditioned to associate focus with pleasure.
This will have a snowball effect, and you'll be much more likely to get more done.
Turn yourself into Pavlov’s dog.

5. Forgive yourself.
It's okay to procrastinate–it's impossible to be hyper-efficient 24/7.
Stop punishing yourself for not making as much progress as you'd like.
Remember, we’re all just monkeys living on a rock floating in space.
Don’t be too hard on yourself.

6. Find an accountability partner.
Everyone should have someone to hold them accountable.
We're inherently people-pleasers—it pains us when we disappoint others.
Don't let this happen—stick to a routine and have your partner regularly check in on your progress.
