My friend Marty Cagan released two articles, this one and this one, describing some of the challenges to product thinking. You should read them. He’s right.

This article is about something more fundamental than that. It’s about the service provider anti-pattern baked into our processes. It’s baked into the governance of most large companies. It’s baked into agile development. And, this way of thinking has been baked into your head since childhood. It’s hard to escape. And, I believe it’s behind a lot of the well-meaning people who lose their way when trying to apply product thinking.

I don’t have a solution. I just want you to recognize it when you see it.
