I don't know of any. Remarkable that the great book Gold Wars by Ferdinand Lips discusses how civilizations fall & rise with money, but says Islam was an exception, as it fell without debasing the currency.

There is a great book on this called "The Gold Wars", that outlines how governments have been waging a cold war against gold for the past 50 years.

Rothbard's What Has government done to our money is a great short read. His History of Money and Banking in the US is more detailed. I also really like Ferdinand Lips' Gold Wars.
