"...when you have ceased to be afraid of threats and are not chasing after rewards you become the most dangerous character in the owl-like view of the bosses. Because... what hold do they have on you?" - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Gulag Archipelago, The Ascent
What’s Wrong With Society?
Part 3A. Ideology.
Ideology is a belief system revolving around a core idea. It’s the story of the world. Its a narrow narrative and a lens of how we make sense of things. Often, it can identify and solve problems but it also turns into a destructive justification for evil while thinking we’re doing good.
“Ideology – that is what gives evil doing its long-sought justification and gives the evildoer the necessary steadfastness and determination. That is the social theory which helps to make his acts seem good instead of bad in his own and others’ eyes, so that he won’t hear reproaches and curses but will receive praise and honors. That was how the agents of the Inquisition fortified their wills: by invoking Christianity; the conquerors of foreign lands, by extolling the grandeur of their Motherland; the colonizers, by civilization; the Nazis, by race; and the Jacobins (early and late), by equality, brotherhood, and the happiness of future generations.”

“But I am not afraid of anything. I would be glad to be judged by God right this minute." - AS
