The culture series (Ian Banks), with the "Player of Games" being IMHO the first read in the series. It's post-everything, with all alchemical dreams (space travel, mastery over biology etc) fulfilled.

Well, the one I started with was The Player Of Games. And I don’t regret that being the first one I read. I love the perspective of the MC in that one. And it’s an excellent book
