Yes, Star Trek TNG is one of the best sci-fi shows ever made, or perhaps one of the best shows ever made period. No other show takes the viewer through such satisfying tours in philosophy, ethics and futurism. The problem, ofc, is getting Yo Gurl to feel the same way.

There was one TV show Sam loved above all others - Star Trek. His favourite incarnations were Next Generation and, possibly even more, Deep Space Nine. He watched them over and over. I've never seen DS9, and was missing him, so I've just started it on Netflix. #StarTrekDS9

PICARD: What I didn't put in the report was that at the end he gave me a choice between a life of comfort or more torture. All I had to do was to say that I could see five lights, when in fact, there were only four.
TROI: You didn't say it?
PICARD: No, no, but I was going to. I would have told him anything. Anything at all. But more than that, I believed that I could see five lights.

PICARD: Whenever I look at you now, I won't see a powerful Cardassian warrior. I will see a six year old boy who is powerless to protect himself.
MADRED: Be quiet.
PICARD: In spite of all you've done to me, I find you a pitiable man.
