3 body problem series, sci fi fiction. Was super fun, but also really gets into how humanity might act in existentialism and how space warfare will likely develop

Liu Cixin's Three Body Problem trilogy seems like an easy example from a great PRC author, but I'm also quite partial to his Ball Lightning, which is a more narrow application.

Indeed the whole 3 body series goes for hundreds of years and not only has technological advances as part of the story but they are even planned for centuries ahead.

Hands down: Three Body Problem trilogy. Siphons, cosmic sociology, dark forest deterence - it's is utterly arresting. Auto #1 in my sci-fi fame hall.
