🧵Let me tell you something about AI.
Since some weeks back I started to mix painting with AI. At first I hated it. Things I usually hate get stuck in me, and my mind start to wrestle it. Hate often comes from your own shortcomings and your fears… 👇

AI paint better than me. Has a wider imagination than me. It can paint a synthetic feeling, faster. But only with my experience in the control tower. AI deploys a fake artist on my artist persona, which ofc, after hammering it in like an advertising company, can be my persona…
I can channel my ideas to you in speed never seen before. But art usually needs time.
All this creates friction in me, starts conflicts. In a serie I used AI-made business men as an metaphor not only for the money in the space, and me as an artist, but also as a battle of ideas.

Angels are Gods servant (usually a human looking thing with wings). AI as a god, angels are archetypical symbols of someone who saves you, happy, bring you to heaven. Could also be the artist. Mine are fallen angels, because I just don’t like things happy without any grit or dark
This image represent the whole collapse of AI and my conversations. It’s a mess, it really need me to control this or merge it with my painting. Or else it will be a Delacroix Castaway, without!, the glimmer of hope.
“Variation of a Fallen Angel 1, 6 and 7” are maybe the ones that has the most traditional painting in the look. They also feel somewhat more personal to me, as an artist, and in this battle.
Regardless of all this I am very bullish on AI. It will take some time, I think, until it develops to create things completely unseen. AI uses a big bank of our art and ideas and do exactly like we human artists do, build on former artists and thinkers.
For some artists I think AI is like the holy grail. There is so much you can do. But sometimes it feels like flying very close to the sun. It can be so good you’re on repeat and lose the feel.
