Still think Craig Wright's private key signings were legit? This key signing with the Genesis address says otherwise.

(Turn on captions for inline commentary.)

Bitcoin was built with the ability to sign messages with your bitcoin addresses, proving the message comes from the owner of said address. A message signed with the addresses from blocks 0 or 9 would be widely recognized as coming from Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's mysterious inventor.

Even Craig Wright, whose widely discredited claims to being Satoshi coupled with his penchant for abusive frivolous litigation has entrenched him as the Evil Clown of Bitcoin, used to agree that a key signing was a necessary component of any proof of Satoshi's identity, and held "private key signings" under conditions strictly controlled by Wright himself.

Several witnesses of Wright's key signings, including Gavin Andresen, walked away believing the signings were legit, so should we take their word for it, even without independent verification? Wright would certainly like it that way.

What if you yourself witnessed a key signing where Satoshi calls Wright a fraud; would you believe your eyes and therefore conclude Wright's signing must have been faked?

Or should you perhaps rather conclude that pulling off a convincing magic trick is actually pretty easy if the performer is allowed to control the environment to the degree Wright did?

For the inquisitive reader/viewer:

1. The video is an authentic screen recording and not edited in any way; all steps were performed live in real time, as if done in front of you in person.

2. The demonstration intentionally follows similar steps performed by Wright; the screen recording format was chosen to provide a similar experience to the demonstration being controlled by Wright.

3. Had you been present in person, you would have been allowed to choose the message.

4. The signing wallet was installed and allowed to do a full blockchain sync prior to the recording.

5. The verifying wallet was downloaded over HTTPS. The SHA256 digests computed in the demonstration match the official files (Electrum 4.3.1 for MacOS); you can download the release yourself and compare.

6. Setting up the verifying wallet as a watch-only wallet of the Genesis address is irrelevant to the demonstration; it's just a relatively uncomplicated way to get through the initial wallet setup quickly.

Don't Trust. Verify.
