"A Fine Balance" One of the best novels to ever come from India

Rohinton Mistry’s A Fine Balance. It’s about 600 pages. One of my fave books of all time. It will take you to another world.

I have not thought about A Fine Balance in 20 years since @zickeltoose gave it to me when we were roommates about Gallaudet. I can still remember the story beats. It was just that impressive.

A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth and A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry are both unputdownable chunks (I always think of these books as a pair bc I read them close together and they're both set in India and they both chewed me up and spat me out like a good book does).

Incredible.
