Why would an ETH collector want to start collecting on Tezos? The reason is simple: amazing art quality by well-established artists. Though ETH is still considered the chain with the highest pedigree, the truth is that Tezos’ art quality is top-notch. 2/
Particularly in Europe, Tezos has come to be considered an environmentally-friendly, advanced, ethical network that has attracted many artists from across all fields. Reasonable gas fees have allowed for a thriving ecosystem for the creation and collecting of non-fungible art. 3/
Tezos Generative Art scene is a good example, with @fx_hash_ as an open platform for generative art, THE place to find valuable art in the network. @zancan, @pointline_, @msoriaro, @zachlieberman, @williamapan... They have all minted on Tezos, with grails at reasonable prices. 4/
Because that’s the second reason to start collecting in Tezos. Due to the gas fees and the high volume, ETH artworks have grown to be inaccessible for most people. Tezos artworks, though also expensive, are more accessible to art-lovers that are starting their crypto journeys. 5/
Let’s take @zancan as an example. In the Tezos Art Scene, Zancan could be considered as equivalent to what Hobbs is for the ETH network. Nonetheless, Zancan’s low-edition pieces sell for 5k, 6k Tezos (10-15k USD), and he still drops works at 100-300 tezos every now and then. 6/
The third reason is the Tezos community. Due to the lower presence of bots and flippers, Tezos’ community still believes strongly in art. Quality artists can still make a name for theme-selves, with other artists and collectors happily supporting and collecting, even when unknown
Ok ok. Now. How do you get into the Tezos network? How do you easily get Tezos if you are an ETH collector?
There are two options:
- Buy Tezos with Crypto
- The Bridge
First, you'll need a Tezos wallet, of course. I personally use @templewallet because it's similar to Metamask for ETH. But people also use @KukaiWallet, AirGap (for mobile), and others.
Now, there are several ways of getting your first batch of Tez (XTZ) coming from ETH. I've always simply bought Tezos with Crypto through TempleWallet itself. It's probably not the cheapest way, but it has worked for me, easy and safe.
The second way is bridging your ETH to Tezos via:
a) A decentralised bridge such as Plenty, Wrap Protocol, Tezex. Never used these.
b) A centralised exchange such as Kucoin, Binance, etc. that allows for withdrawals to your Tezos wallet. I've used Binance several times.
Ok. Now you have some Tezos. Congratulations!
