I don’t post graphic war footage. I understand that it is difficult for many to process, especially if it comes up on you unexpectedly. However, this reporting from @nyt is important. Many residents risked their lives to film what happened in Bucha. Video in link below. (1/5)
The reporting links the 234th VDV regiment (subordinate to the 76th GAAD from Pskov) to targeted civilian killings in Bucha in March 2022. Soldiers and commanders are identified. The videos show how they move and occupy positions. (2/4)
Russians were ambushed by UAF/TDF at a critical intersection in the town on Yablunska St in Feb. Six days later Russians returned for a zachistka (a “mop up” operation), moving slowly up the street capturing men they found, and killing anyone who moved (3/4)
And in the presence of their regimental commander. Multiple civilian executions and murders to secure an intersection along a preferred route to Kyiv. The videos show that it is organized and deliberate. The 76th was considered an elite unit. (4/5)
Russians returned to secure their Bucha objective and their means to do were brutal. @ckoettl and team, this must have been hard to work on, but it’s important. (5/end)
