Do you ever wonder why trying to explain, persuade, or convince people about #Bitcoin can be so challenging?

It's because you are the counterparty risk.

A 🧵
When your car doesn't run and the mechanic tells you what is wrong, you generally accept it. Why? Because unless you know a lot about cars you don't have pre-existing knowledge about the situation. Nature abhors a vacuum. The mechanic's expertise fills the knowledge vacuum.
Why is it different with #Bitcoin?

Because most people believe they already understand money. There is no vacuum for your knowledge to fill.
When you make statements about #Bitcoin, it collides with their existing frame of reference. When that happens, their mind reflexively doubts the new information because it doesn't conform to what they know. Their mind is the bearer asset. You are the counterparty risk.
How do you overcome this?

By planting a seed that causes them to question what they think they know. This creates a new space in their mind where information can enter to fill the void.
A good question makes the other person access their accepted knowledge. If they don't have the answer, a new vacuum is created and their curiosity will want to fill it.

Precoiner: Bitcoin isn't money because it isn't backed by anything.

You: What makes a good money?
Asking a question will make them talk. As they talk, they will find gaps in their knowledge. You can help them fill those gaps by asking more questions that get them to talk more. Why? Because we believe what we tell ourselves more than what is told to us.
In persuasion, the person talking the most is the one being persuaded. Why? Because when someone talks they engrave those words into their brains as facts.

Precoiner: Bitcoin uses too much energy.

You: How do you determine how much is too much energy to use?
You will never change anyone's mind…you can only help them open their own mind to change. Questions are the key to that process.

Talking is efficient….questions are effective.

Tell less. Ask more.
What questions do you find most useful in helping people become more curious about #Bitcoin?
