Very good post indeed touching on an important issue: accountability of editors on their decision to review or not review. To this I would add that if they consult with anybody to make their decision, they will be doing Accpt/Rjct after (peer)review. This is an imprtnt convrsatn

His autobiography ('the statue within' in some english translations) is a wonderful read and the last third a first hand account of his relationship w/ Monod and of how ideas are brought to bear on expts and on new vistas. No reference to postdocs doing the work

Very good piece of work. Now, what would be nice is to see how to make them (any or at least the last ones) work with an experimentally tractable efficiency and reduced variation. I am sure that this is the next step (model nr 6?) and look forward to it. #InNumbersWeTrust

On “Molecular vitalism’, [link] (Kirschner, Gearhart, Mitchinson) an essay which should be a classic, required reading in these times in which we are rediscovering experimental embryology (in mammals) w/surprising results #NotInTheGenes

Wonderful & solid piece of work. Good example of the value of reproducible systems that provide good numbers. Only then it's possible to look a normal process and mutants whose phenotype we don't know ahead of time.
