This is the best article I've read on the recent Randomised Control Trial (RCT) on face masks in healthcare workers. It explains what the study was designed to test, what its results mean, and don't mean. A sciency, authoritative, clear and approachable piece, and a nice read.

A thoughtful, graceful and generous thread. When people like this get sacked, they are a loss to their former company, and their departure further undermines the morale of those who kept their jobs.

This is a good article overall, as we can expect from @HelenBranswell. Though, I have reservations about the title. The detection of three genetically unrelated cases does not imply there are multiple global outbreaks underway. 1/

wrote a great thread summarising the paper's findings and providing key background. The tweet below is particularly insightful. Deceased patients who were not under glucocorticoids (immunosuppressants) did not have systemic infections. 2/

According to Extended Data Table 2, Patient 3, 7, 10, 12 & 28 did *not* receive GC. Where was viral RNA found in these autopsies? Patient 3: Barely detectable anywhere. Patient 7: Immunosuppression post kidney transplant - similar issue for GC/s

Someone actually carefully read the recent paper about covid infecting every organ. You don't have to - it's not a straightforward paper - if you read @andrew_croxford's thread, which provides an excellent summary and the background information needed to understand the results.

馃УOh dear, I鈥檓 not here for the drama & this isn鈥檛 to pick on Dr. Hyde specifically, but the way clinical data is presented to the public on Twitter sometimes leaves me cold. This seems like a good example. Sorry, ZH! twitter.com/DrZoeHyde/status/
