Brian Giesbrecht received his education in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He attended both University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba, where he graduated with his LLB. He practiced as a lawyer in Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba, and was appointed to the Provincial Court of Manitoba in 1976, where he served as Associate Chief Judge, and then Acting Chief Judge. He retired in 2007 to write about issues of national concern, including Canada’s unresolved Indigenous issue. His columns and essays have been published in local and national newspapers and media outlets, as well as various periodicals. He is a Senior Fellow with Frontier Centre for Public Policy.
