Brilliant analysis by @CosmicSkeptic. I don't believe that there's a hierarchy of values. Nor that, as far as you're concerned your theory is reality. Just a guess. I agree with Popper that a scientist should not believe his theories. I try not to believe anything of course.

Come to think of it, the morality and psychology of essentially that situation are explored in Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Brilliant book. One of very few pessimistic books I'd recommend. Harrowing yet thought-provoking. Like Nineteen Eighty-Four.
