I am an economist interested in development economics, political economy, and economic history.

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy, and a postdoctoral scholar at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies (spring and fall 2022). I am a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and an affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD).

I am from San José, Costa Rica. I received my Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 2018. I graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Economics in 2010 and an M.S. in Statistics in 2011.
