Inci Otker, a Turkish national, is the Mission Chief for Trinidad and Tobago and the Division Chief of Caribbean III of the Western Hemisphere Department (WHD) of the International Monetary Fund. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, and B.A./M.S. from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. Before joining WHD, she was an Advisor and Division Chief in the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department, and Senior Advisor at the World Bank and the Deputy Director of its World Development Report 2014 on Risks and Opportunities: Managing Risk for Development. Her published and ongoing research covers financial stability, SIFIs, capital controls, exchange regimes, inflation targeting, financial and currency crises, regional integration, and global risks, including climate change, natural disasters, and pandemics. She co-edited books on Rapid Credit Growth in Central Eastern Europe; Building a Resilient Financial Sector; and Unleashing Growth and Strengthening Resilience in the Caribbean. She worked at the Central Bank of Turkey during 1986-87.
