Most of the cost of mining Bitcoin is in the electricity to power high-powered computers. So to build HODL Ranch's first Bitcoin mining campus Jesse went to arid west Texas, where the land is cheap and there's so much wind power that sometimes they give it away. HODL Ranch has so far attracted enough crypto-miners to use 150 megawatts. When the wind stops they can throttle back their mining machines almost instantaneously to allow the power to flow to the grid.
