No other movie so consistently makes me laugh till I cry and then crushed my heart till I sob. It only gets more powerful with time too. In my opinion it's one of the great movies (both of em!). Deeply romantic, funny and tragic in a very Chinese way. One of my all time favs.

I suspect Mind Game is one of the most low key influential movies of the last 20 years. Especially when it comes to the shadow it has cast on animation and sensitive pop artsy live action cinema. I'd be surprised if it DIDNT influence Spider verse or Everything Everywhere AAO

If you sincerely believe that animation is cinema, or if you just love cinema, please find some way to watch Mind Game (2004), directed by Masaaki Yuasa.

Charles Laughton only directed one film in his life, Night of the Hunter, but it was a masterpiece, so far ahead of its time as to timeless. With that one film he deserves to be called one of the GOATS. What a loss that he didnt get to make more films!

Just watched Suzume in theaters. Loved it. I think it's Makoto Shinkai's strongest film. I highly recommend it. If you don't know what it's about just go in blind.

Yup! I saw it with friends from the US who had never seen or read Slam Dunk before. They loved it! Although it actually takes place at the end of the comic, it's a really excellent standalone movie. You don't have to know the series and it never plays on nostalgia.

Slam Dunk is amazing. I highly recommend it, even if you don't particularly like basketball. The new movie is really excellent as a standalone film too. Not just good for animation, but truly one of the best films I've seen in ages.

Mask of the Phantasm truly is the best Batman (and Bruce Wayne) movie through and through.
