You should read Fooled by Randomness from Taleb. There’s an entire chapter dedicated to this attitude.

Excellent post by @chr_iswong. Doing something meaningful implies giving up some optionality. Settling down, starting a family, creating memories, adding beauty to your surroundings, etc — all reduce optionality, but all worth doing.

I highly recommended Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. Very eye opening. Punished by Rewards by the same author is by good too (and not relevant to just parenting).

Fooled by Randomness is such a great book that you don’t even need to read it to learn something. Just the book title alone is a lesson.
