Despite the mistake about miltech (understandable, since it's part of US propaganda justifying the chip war), the WIRED article by @page88 is a good read. Pro tip: in PRC they believe, with justification, that anything TW, JP, or Koreans can do, they can do better.

Great thread on India. "Per capita income $2,000. Remove top 30 million people (out of 1.5B): drops to ~$700" Indian physicists I know estimate effective base population (ie good educations, produce STEM human capital): ~100M But most of these end up in West so optics skewed!
