Better Data Visualizations (@jschwabish) and Avoiding Data Pitfalls (@DataRemixed) are both excellent intro books. We use Jon's as one of the primary texts in the MICA Foundations class.

Washington Post in the style of McSweeney's. An absolute delight from start to finish. 100/10 would recommend this article. 0/10 would recommend a story hour that starts with a sermon on the merits of America as a theocracy.
